Fat Quarter Shop Sponsor Highlight & Giveaway

Welcome back Fat Quarter Shop!  Fat Quarter Shop was started in 2003 by Kimberly Jolly as a side business and it quickly grew into a full time venture. Fat Quarter Shop specializes in high quality quilting and sewing fabrics with excellent customer service. They offer quilt kits, BOMs, exclusive patterns available only from them and a whole host of notions that I cannot seem to live without!

I usually highlight fabric lines that are coming soon, I thought this time around I would highlight some fabric lines that you can buy RIGHT NOW.

There are so many many more that are available these are just a few of my personal favorite right now. What are your personal favorites? I know you have them!!!

Several weeks ago, Fat Quarter Shop sent me a 1/4 yard bundle of Avalon…this is what I came up with. This is a paper pieced wall hanging that I created. Tomorrow I will be doing a review of Carol Doak’s Foundation Papers, which I used in the creation of this wall hanging and on Wednesday I will have a complete tutorial for you.

Today Fat Quarter Shop is generously offering a Fat Quarter Bundle of Historia Avalon.

They are also giving away a set of Carol Doak’s Foundation Papers. Wow generous!

You may be asking yourself, how do I win this fabulous prize? There are three chances, but in order to win, you must first and foremost be a follower (this is not an entry, just a requirement).

  1. Head over to the Fat Quarter Shop Notions Section and tell me what is the one notion you are dieing to try (software not withstanding) – One Entry
  2. Go like my Facebook Page or follow me on Twitter – One Entry
  3. Alert the media!!! Blog, Facebook, or Tweet about this giveaway – One Entry

  1. I really need to try out the Clover Wonder Clips… need an alternative to the pins that poke me as I’m hand stitching the binding. The Historia Avalon sure has some beautiful blues.

  2. The notion I would like to try is the Creative Grids Lazy Angle Ruler
Creative Grids #CGR3754, thanks for the giveaway and I really like your wall hanging.

  3. At first I thought I’d like to try the Clover needle threader but then saw Cheryl’s post about the Clover Wonder Clips. Now I’m thinking I might need to try them also.

  4. Shared it on my FB page. Love the wall hanging, the black and white print really pops the stars. I’m really liking the Yard Sale FQ with the lattice and dots. Thanks for another great givaway.

  5. I already follow you on twitter and like you on facebook. I hope that doesn’t sound like I’m a stalker or anything :o)

  6. Great wall hanging! I would like to try the Fons & Porter Quarter Inch Seam Marker Ruler Set 🙂

  7. I’d like to try the water soluable glue pen — Sharon Schamber recommends to use elmer’s washable glue with a FINE tip for anchoring bindings before sewing them on. Interesting! Maybe this would work.

  8. The binding tool and the Olfa Ergo rotary cutter. Thanks for the giveaway.
    twelve30(at)gmail)dot)com

  9. I’m in need of a smaller pair of scissor to keep by the sewing machine. I’m thinking Fiskars Non-Stick 8″ Scissors {Fiskars #9997} would be perfect?

Thank you for a chance to win. 🙂

  10. I love Carol’s paper, have used it for years. However, recently I’ve been working on foundation piecing minis with freezer paper instead, I must admit, I love it. One day I’ll do a tutorial. 🙂

  11. I already follow you on facebook, and here on your blog. Love this fabric! Thanks to you and FQS

  12. Of course I follow you, m’dear! LOL I really NEED one of the Collins markers on the Notions page…either the washable or the vanishing. Eep! Dare I admit what I use now? I think not. OK, you pulled it out of me — ballpoint! Gasp!

  13. I’ve been quilting for a while, and although I don’t own all of the notions, i’ve tried many of them, so it was hard for me to find something I’ve not already tried. I love Aurifil, and Clover extra fine piecing pins.
The Quilt in a Day Triangle square up ruler would be nice to try. The older I get the less I like rulers with too many wide lines on them. This ruler has a nice clean-line appearance.

  14. I’d like to try the Clearview Triangle ruler. Thanks for a chance to win some fabric to add to my quilt for my fiance.

  15. KittenWithAWhiplash

My sewing is in a pretty elementary stage, so I haven’t invested in good tools yet. I’d love to have the Olfa Rotary Cutter.

  16. I absolutely need the Creative Grids 6 1/2″ Square Non-Slip Ruler. I only have 2 rulers right now. Both are 6″ x 18″. It is very hard to square up a 6 1/2″ block with those rulers, LOL, espeically for a newbie like me.

  17. I would like the Olfa Deluxe 45mm Ergo Rotary Cutter, the Angler 2, and the EZ Quilting 4 1/2″ Easy Angle Ruler

  18. The Binding Tool is a notion I want to try; I hate the bulk where the seams meet in my binding; thanks for chance to win!

  19. Shirley in Canada

I would really like to try the Triangle paper. Always looked at it, but never tried it yet!

  20. I would love the have the Creative Grids Lazy Angle Ruler Creative Grids. Angles are my biggest challenge

  21. The notion that I would like to try is the Twister ruler for 10″ squares. Thank you
    for the chance to win!

  22. I Tweeted about the giveaway: @Sew BitterSweet Designs blog, having a giveaway
sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop. Enter now!!

  23. Would love to have the Twister ruler (or even Lil Twister). I’ve been eyeing this one! Thanks for the chance!

  24. The Notion I’d like is: Quick & Easy Block Tool
    C&T Publishing #10322
    Thanks for this great opportunity!

  25. I want to try one of the Creative Grids non-slip rulers. I hate it when my ruler slips! I follow by email since GFC is no longer an option, hope that qualifies.

  26. I would like to try the Dresden Ruler. I cannot like you on Facebook, as I do not do FB, but I have followed you for some time now!

  27. The notion that I’d like to try is Grip & Stitch Quilting Disks
    Clever Craft Tools #10001 ,

  28. I would love to try the Clover Wonder Clips! I’ve heard about them out in “blogland” but haven’t had the chance to try them yet! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great giveaway!!! 🙂

    P.S. I’m a follower!!

  29. Lesley Griffel

I’d like to try the binder’s tool. I’ve almost given up on getting a nice bias cut finish to my bindings.

  30. I would love to try the Sewline Mechanical Pencil.. I have been wanting one of those for awhile.

  31. The notion I’d like to try is the Pinmoor Quilt Anchors. I have no idea how they work, but they’ve got to be better than pinning my quilt to the carpet…I mean, I know I’m not supposed to do that, but I end up doing it every time!

  32. I would love to try out the Lil Twister ruler – even though I would be a little nervous.

  33. The notion I would really love to try are the Clover Wonder Clips! I have heard so many good things about them.

  34. I would love to try the Dresden plate template. I so want to make a Dresden plate quilt.

  35. Michelle Olsen

I’m a follower 🙂 I’d love to try the Sewline Trio mechanical pencil – the one with the black & white leads and tracer ball. I love that they wash off, can be damp-sponged off, or can be erased. I’m low-tech right now with a reqular mechanical pencil on the wrong side of fabric, so it would be neat to try something fancier.

  36. I now follow your blog on bloglovin. From the FQS notions I like those Clover wonder clips!

  37. I think i would like to try the Lil twister template. thanks for the chance to win the fat quarter bundle.

    Vicki

  38. The notion I’m anxious to try is the Frixion Ball erasable gel pen. I’ve seen them mentioned several places recently and would love to test them out.

  39. I’d like to give that binding tool a try – I always struggle with that at the very end of the project. I have to pin-baste, and even then sometimes I sew it backwards. I already use a Creative Grids non-slip ruler & Clover Wonder Clips – both of them well-worth the money, imho!!

  40. And I made a Facebook entry about your giveaway. Thanks for the chance to win some gorgeous blue fabrics — my favorite color!

  41. As for my favorite notion, right now it is the clips to hold the binding on and I now do not have to suffer with sticks from pins holding the binding in place.

  42. I’d love to try the Lil’ Twister (or regular Twister) template. The pieces made with these are gorgeous!

  43. I must confess I’m dying to try out the Twister/Lil Twister rulers.. I’ve seen quilts floating around blogland done with those and they look so effective!

  44. I’ve heard lots of great things about the Lazy Angle ruler. I can imagine one coming in quite handy!

  45. would like to try this … and try making a flying geese follow the leader quilt.
Lazy Girl Designs Flying Geese x4 No Math Ruler
    Lazy Girl Designs #FGX4

  46. Melanie Logsdon

I am a follower. I also subscribe by e-mail! I would like to try out the Twister Pinwheel ruler.

  47. I would love to try the Lil’ Twister Pinwheel Ruler or the big Twister ruler. Thanks for the giveaway.

  48. My gosh, there are so many things to look at in the notions department. I got lost in the thread section! If I were wishing, it would be for the small “Over the Rainbow” thread box, although I saw about a dozen single spools of thread that would make me very happy…

Your paper piecing is amazing–great use of dramatic fabrics. Those Avalon prints are so lovely. I used one in a quilt recently and wished I had stocked up.

  49. I would love a copy of the All-in-One Quilter’s Reference Tool. However, the one thing that I would really like is the Clover Protect and Grip Medium Thimble. I have real trouble finding a thimble that works for me and my fingers. I would love to try this to see if it works, because it sounds wonderful. However if the purple scissor and measuring tape were to find their way into my mail box I wouldn’t mind. 🙂

  50. I am really getting interested in learning to paper piece and would love to try Carol Doaks Foundation Paper!

  51. Let’s see? Notions at the Fat Quarter Shop….it would have to be a new rotary cutter – mine is old but the Olfa Deluxe Ergo Rotary Cutter looks wonderful!

  52. Good morning!

I saw several notions that I had not seen before. I thought the Angler 2 looked interesting and very useful.

    Thanks!

  53. I LIKE you already on FACEBOOK.

I love the wall hanging that you made with the fabric!

    Have a great day.

  54. Am really in need of fabric scissors. When I use mine a couple of times I have to tighten the nut in order to keep cutting…… Thanks for the giveaway.

  55. I already follow you through bloglovin’. Is that “following?” I know it gives me notice whenever you post…. I would like to try the hexagon paper pieces. That is next on my quilt to do list…

  56. I have been wanting to get that lil twister ruler for a long time – I might just do it today! thanks for the lovely giveaway!

  57. Would love to try the Binding Tool, for sure! Thanks for sharing, awesome giveaway…!!!

  58. I’d really like to try the Collins Washable Wonder Marker – my chalk pencils dull so quickly, and the one washable marker I have doesn’t mark very well without a lot of effort. Thank you for the giveaway!

  59. I follow you on FB and a notion I would like to try is the easy angle ruler 🙂 Thanks for the fun giveaway!

  60. I would love the add a quarter 6 inch ruler – no more little scraps of paper! Thanks for the chance to win some great fabric

  61. I would truly love to try the lazy angle ruler. 🙂

    thank you

    sandyb720 at gmail dot come

  62. Hi the one notion I have been dying to try is the Clover Wonder Clips…I have already liked both yours and the fat quarters pages on Facebook and I have also changed my status on facebook telling all my friends about it!

  63. I’m planning to try the Sewline Aqua eraser. I have the pencil and need an eraser for it.

  64. I seriously want to try out the precut hexagon papers. I love the look of some of the hexagon patterns, but all the hand sewing intimidates me.

  65. I’d really love to try each of the main thread lines they carry. I heard thread can really make a difference in your quilting.

  66. I’d like to try the Lil’ Twister Pinwheel Ruler Country Schoolhouse #LTW5. I just love all the twister quilts I’ve seen out in blogland and would like to try one for myself! 🙂

  67. I admit it, I am a notions slut. I have almost every notion listed in their shop already. I would like to try a set of fussy cut templates or a Hera marker though. And I already use Carol Doak’s Foundation Paper-I love it.

  68. I have an entire list of notions from thier site that I would love.
I would love both sets of the Perfect Circles and also the Creative Grids Lazy Angle Ruler.

  69. I am redoing this….would love the 6 1/2 square template to help in my quilting squares! New o blogging…hope to win!

  70. The notion on my want to try list is the yo-yo makers. I have never made a yo-yo and I see them in so many things today and I really want to try my hand at it.

  71. Kim's Crafty Apple

I think the binding tool looks interesting. I already order the Tri-Recs ruler because of your tutorial a few weeks ago 🙂

  72. I’d like to try the Aurifil Slate Gray 100% Cotton Mako Thread
Aurifil #MK50-2605 .Everyone just raves about it!

  73. Went Face Book & posted a comment. The page had already a ‘liked’ button- but I clicked it again.

  74. Without a doubt, my must have (and I’m going to be ordering one next week) is The Angler 2 and wow, what a great price they are too….Yippee.

    Naomi

    EZ Quilting Tri-Recs Ruler
Darlene Zimmerman & Joy Hoffman #8823753

    THANK YOU!!!!

  78. I have shared your FB/blog…thank you again for this chance…I do so enjoy you and your page*S*
    Blessings!

  79. I just saw an ad 2 days ago for the Sewline Fabric Glue Pen and would really like to give that a try. Have discovered the fabric glue is pretty awesome stuff but haven’t tried any except Roxanne’s.

  80. Elizabeth McDonald

I am eager to try Darlene Zimmerman’s Easy Dresden ruler – I think it would be a great time saver and more accurate.

  81. Oh my I haven’t been in the FQS notions section in a long time and boy did I find a bunch of fun stuff I would love to have: Aurifil thread (didn’t know they carried it), Flat Flower Pins, Collins Fabric Grips, I could go on….but what I really would love to try is the Lil’ Twister Pinwheel Ruler.

  82. I following you on Facebook and on Twitter. 🙂 Love the 3D effect of your paper pieced wall hanging and am very much looking forward to the tutorial on how to do it.

  85. i had no idea what a fat quarter was ,i thought at first is it a street in new orleans or a quarter that was made with more silver,oh but to the surprize of my mind it is the very thing that is a buncle of material used to make quilts. wonderful new to me. i make baby quilts and quilts for family member so it would be beautiful to make one with the material you are giving away . you woke up my mind today thank you.
