So I hit a milestone this week on Twitter, I now have over 500 followers! WOW! I can’t believe that even 5 people care what I have to say, let alone 500. I am also 4 fans away from 800 on my Facebook Page!Β Holy Buckets Batman!Β So I thought I would have a fun and random giveaway.
This is a nice sized pile of selvages. I started collecting them last year when I was seeing all kinds of awesome projects on pinterest made with selvages. Well since I am trying to finish projects instead of start new ones, I thought I would give these to someone who would use them and enjoy them! What do you think?
Entry will be super simple! Tell me what your favorite dish is at Thanksgiving (mine is homemade creamed corn)!
Happy Friday! This giveaway will be open until 9 pm on Thursday, November 15, I will announce the winner on Friday!
That’s an easy one. Fresh congealed Cranberry Salad! I make it with Splenda now instead of sugar and it is so good!
lisamcgriff(at)hotmail(dot)com
Congratulations! I don’t need any selvages – just stopped in to tell you Congrats!
Hurrah for followers – I don’t celebrate thanksgiving but I do love selvedges! Just sorting some right now from a quilt I finished a while ago (and rescuing the pieces that are big enough for scraps!)
Just wanted to say congratulations! So happy for you on both the twitter count and FB count…….way to go! My favorite dish is a jello salad that has apples, celery and pecans in it, just love the crunch mixed with the coolness of the jello.
I would love to have the selvages – I have also been wanting to try a small project with them. My favorite (one of several actually) is creamed peas with baby onions. I only think to fix it over the holidays for some reason (kind of like green bean cass., etc.).
I’m saving selvages and would love to win yours. I love the dressing, and it’s even better cold the next day!
Thanksgiving is long gone here, but it can’t be Thanksgiving without Acorn Squash baked with lots of butter and maple syrup that was made by a dear, dear friend! Congrats to you Melissa (and I am one of the 500, and one of the 796!)
Mine is a rice casserole that my sister-in-law makes. It uses French Onion soup and consomme, but I don’t have the full recipe. Must make that happen!
Congratulations on reaching such an impressive milestone. You came up with a wonderful prize – I have been collecting these for awhile and plan something big when I get enough. Thanks for the chance to win!
Oh Me Oh My, nothing is better thank Pecan Pie π
Melissa! This is so great… I could totally use these*S*….but its just fun to play*S*
My favorite Thanksgiving side dish is drunken yams…with the toasted marshmellows on top….MMMMmmmmm, so good*S*
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Sweet potato casserole. Made using Ruth’s Chris’ recipe. Yummy.
Here in Sweden we donΒ΄t celebrate Thanksgiving, so I donΒ΄t have a clue what I like π I guess everything is tasty……of course it is!
Gun, Sweden
I would have to say Pecan pie! Lol
meat stuffing
Congrats on the 500 followers. I don’t have a blog, just like reading other quilty blogs and see what everyone is doing……..Thanksgiving was in October for us and we love “apple whip,” which is a little like whip cream, on our favourite pies -apple or pumpkin….both are great at this time of year. I have a log cabin block that I use selvedges in and these would go well……
Stopped in to say Congrats! on both counts! I don’t need the selvages, if I win please, draw again! lol
My favorite Thanksgiving dish is “Stuffing” or Dressing as it is sometimes called, I really think Pumpkin Pie is a close second tho’…..
Mashed potatoes & gravy. I would be happy with only that–and a little pecan pie for dessert.
It’s the combo…..white meat turkey, dressing, and gravy……….yummy…I can hardly wait!
Oh no, we don;t have Thanksgiving!! Turkey is my favourite roast though π
mmmmm I love Mashed Potatoes!!!
I love making ambrosia, fresh fruits if I can get them, plus freshly grated coconut with no sweetening added.
I would love to win the selvedges. I am making a quilt for my house guests to use from selvedges..

Congrats on FB and Twitter followers π My fav Thanksgiving food is the Green Bean Casserole! My DD and I are the only ones who like it at all so we only get to have it on Thanksgiving, haha. Thanks!!!
How fun.
My favorite dish on Thanksgiving other than the turkey is the homemade bread that mom makes. We have missed it for the last 2 years now. My sister and I have tried making it with her recipe with no success. We are thinking that mom has a secret ingredient. LOL
I love homemade cornbread stuffing!
Baked dried corn is my favorite.
My fiance makes this AMAZING braised cabbage and apple side dish.
I’m in the UK, so no thanksgiving, but my favourite parts of Christmas dinner are stuffing and sausages wrapped in bacon, so good! I’ve not made anything with selvages, but would love to give it a go!
I love pumpkin pie, even tho I’m a Brit!
I absolutely love Brussell Sprouts sauted with Bacon and Balsamic Vinegar. π
Congrats on the high numbers!!! I love sweet potato souffle for Thanksgiving!! I also collect selvedges and right now I am loaded with them, so if you draw my name, please choose another. I love reading your blog and facebook pages :o)
I’m from Norway, and I have no tradition on Thanksgiving, sorry. But I love selvages, and I use a lot making different things like blocks, potholders, mugrugs. If I had a lot of them I could have made a whole quilt. Thanks for the chance to win. Happy to follow you by mail, I have no Twitter or Facebook.
Woohoooo congratulations on the numbers. I just checked to see if I could add to your Facebook numbers, but I had already ‘liked’ you. Don’t laugh at me. I might have not done that yet and yes, the old lady in me is showing ’cause I couldn’t remember.
I make a HUGE meal each year and get teased by my husband and my kids. They all ask WHY I am making all this food when there are only (4 or 6 or however many there are)a few of us here. Then they add MOM! You’ve made enough to feed our entire town. But do they complain as they are shoveling it all into their mouths? NOT EVEN ONCE! LOL
Anyway, I make all my favorites that usually only are made twice a year. My favorite salad I need help eating because my husband won’t touch it so that’s why it is made for the holidays. That’s a broccoli salad that I had the first time at Sweet Tomatoes and it’s got broccoli, celery, raisins, sunflower seeds and the dressing is a mayo/sugar/vinegar type dressing. It’s SO good.
Then two year ago I saw this on a tv show and then found the website to get the recipe and found a video there that was the same as I’d seen on the show. My husband and I bought all the stuff to make it too but I ran out of time and my pain level was so high from all the baking and cooking that I just could not do it. ALL our kids laughed at me when I showed the video to them and asked if I was crazy. NO! I MUST make that just one time. I’ve considered it a challenge to myself and said I HAVE TO DO IT. Maybe this year for Christmas? Hmmm we’ll see. I have to pass it on. Anyone reading this want to take the challenge for me? LOL Just think, no more asking every single person at your house for the holidays, ‘which dessert do you want?’ and then wait for the answer. You can just cut a big ole piece of this and be done with it. They can pick what they wanted off the huge piece of this that’s laying on their plates. LOL

This guy is so funny. I wish I had some of the awesome antique stoves from that place he’s taping this from.
Melissa ~ I really would love to have your selvedges because I am saving them myself after seeing some awesome projects myself. I am posting though to give you a laugh abou that video. I have so many projects that I need to get started/finished that I know those will just sit here with my others for a long time so, as much as I’d love them, please draw another winner if my number comes up.
Now Melissa – I want to know if you are going to make that dessert from the video?
I’d love your selvedges pile!

My favorite besides the turkey is a salad I make. I’m not sure of the name… but it is cherry pie filling, cool whip, coconut, mini marshmallows and crushed pineapple. YUMMY! Thanks for a chance to win! I’ve wanted to try some of the salvage projects, but my salvage pile isn’t growing very fast…. π
ParabΓ©ns!Isto Γ© grande!!!Obrigada.
Wow! Congratulations on the milestone! We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia but I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of pumpkin pie – it’s a dessert made with a savoury ingredient but I’m guessing it must be yummy otherwise it wouldn’t be a national favourite? Thanks for the lovely giveaway.
My favourite is mashed potatoes.
I definitely still love green bean casserole! These selvedges have my name on them! Five years ago I started a log cabin quilt for my daughter ,using only selvedges. Pick me, Pick me. Thanks for the giveaway!!! Sharon
mine is the turkey…. my wonderful husband does the cooking of the turkey…he would like it to be a BIG 30 pound one… if I buy anything less than 20# he says, “why didn’t you just buy a chicken?” LOL it is a Thanksgiving Eve tradition to get it ready and it cooks all night, low and slow and is not your usual to be carved turkey but a moist and juicy fall off the bone delight with lots and lots of broth/juices for giblet gravy and plenty for mixing the dressing… hummm guess I better be looking for a turkey
favorite dish? i have to pick just one?
I like green bean casserole, i have no idea how to make it but its always so good when i eat it.
Pumpkin Pie too of course
That has got to feel great to have so many followers. I am one of them :). I love reading about others and their quilting adventures! My favorite dish at thanksgiving is scalloped potatoes!
Congrats on the milestone!
My favorite dish is probably the mashed potatoes with turkey gravy. Love them so much! Thanks for the chance to win!
Congratulations!
I’m in England and we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving so I’ll tell you what we had for supper last night!! Sausages, mash and onion gravy!
We do not have Thanksgiving in the UK but from my American friends I have a love of cornbread stuffing with a Norfolk Black Turkey, creamed corn, roasted squash, mashed potato and gravy ooohh sounds like a plan for Sunday Dinner if I can find a turkey.
OOOOO, I’ve been wanting to make a selvage project, but I don’t have nearly enough accumulated in my stash yet – I’d love to win yours. My favorite Thanksgiving dish is the turkey tetrazini I make the next day, LOL.
Congratulations! My Thanksgiving wouldn’t be complete without my sweet potato pie.
Congrats on these milestones. Besides mashed potatoes and gravy my favorite dish is corn pudding. Yikes, these together sound bad…very heavy in starch!
I found a recipe a few years ago for a pumpkin swirl cheesecake that has a crust made from crushed ginger snaps – ooooo is that good! I would love to play with your selvages – I see a string quilt or at least a pillow top with yours and mine. Thanks for the give away!
I love the turkey and the pumpkin pie the best, I don’t know which I like more.
Hawaiian Yams. It became a tradition in our family for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Believe it or not, my fav is … sauerkraut! It is a family tradition. It is cooked all day with some seasonings and browned pork chops. It’s yummy!
I love my cranberry stuffing and I can not do without homemade pomegranate cranberry sauce. I am trying to save enough selvages to cover my sewing room chair.
I’m easy – turkey and cranberry sauce!! Yuuuuummmm…
Oh my!! Favorite?! Guess I’d have to say Sweet Potato Casserole! I love sweet potatoes no matter how they’re cooked π I also love selvages, I just started collecting and could really use some more! Thanks for the giveaway! π
My fav is Green Bean Casserole. always has been. π
Congrats! No thanksgiving here, but I was loving the pumpkin pie Blizzard at DQ when I was over there, which cookie dough bits (they thought it was weird, I loved it, killed 2 birds with 1 stone lol)
Congratulations!
My mother’s homemade pecan pie is the best holiday dish!
I love the turkey (dark meat). Thanks for the chance.
Melissa, I have to say that the stuffing I learned how to make from my Dad is everyone’s favorite dish at Thanksgiving. I am soon going to have to insist that one of my children get on the stick and soon learn how to make this dish!
Great giveaway Melissa and congrats on all the followers on twitter (something I know nothing about) LOL!
My favorite is my husband’s stuffing/dressing. He improvises each year, the best is with the dark cherries! I love those selvage projects too!
Thanks for the giveaway chances!
Pumpkin pie, no contest!
My favorite Thanksgiving dish is the stuffing. I make a very simple bread stuffing and it gets scarfed up every year. Love it.
Congrats on your milestones. I have to have green bean casserole every year. Thanks for the giveaway.
Congratulations on the milestone. My favorite dish is the dessert…pumpkin pie with a nice cup of coffee surrounded by family and friends. This year inviting college students who live too far from home…Africa, Hawaii, and faculty from Japan….Let’s take Thanksgiving global!
Pumpkin Pie! I can’t wait for pumpkin pie!
I love a turkey sandwich on fresh white bread as a midnight snack after thanksgiving supper. But thanksgiving in Canada was a month ago, so that ship has sailed! LOL! I would love to use that pile of selvedges and scraps. I’m itching to try the floor mat in Amanda Jean and Cheryl’s book Sunday Morning Quilts, but my sewing productivity doesn’t generate nearly enough scraps! This would be AH-MAZING!
By far my favorite thanksgiving food… my grandmother’s cranberry salad! Loaded with cranberries, oranges, pecans, celery yummy goodness! Can’t wait!!
I have two favorites….my homemade yeast rolls (made with the help of my trusty Breadmaker dough setting) AND homemade whole cranberry sauce. My family all loves to combine the two…hot out of the oven…rolls with butter and topped with cranberry sauce…yummy, yum yum in your tummy, tum tum!
