Sew Intertwined QAL Planning

Sew Intertwined QAL

We already have 34 members in our Sew Intertwined Flickr Group! I am so excited to have all of you joining us in making this quilt and I know Jenna is too! A few people are already well on their way to picking out fabrics and planning their layouts.

Jenna has put up some great templates and images over on SewHappyGeek today to help you in the planning process.

Sew Intertwined Quilt - Stockholm Fabrics by Robin Singone

Here is an image of my quilt – I did 2 different fabrics for my HSTs, so my one yard print is the Daisy Janie – Shades of Gray, Rag Tag.  I have used it in every single one of my blocks – I like the continuity it gives my quilt.  So head over to SewHappyGeek and download the templates!

AND!!! If you are quilting along with us, grab a button from my sidebar, Jenna has one too!

Sew Intertwined Quilt

I am so excited to announce that I will be co-hosting my first every QAL with none other than Jen from Sew Happy Geek! We have teamed up to create this newly designed quilt just for you!

The quilt is fairly straightforward, however, the woven blocks can present a bit of a challenge. This quilt will definitely stretch your skill set. We will be presenting you 2 different methods for assembling the woven blocks, regular piecing and paper piecing, try out both methods and decide which one works best for you. The finished quilt without borders is 60×60, with borders is 65×65.

How to Join: All you have to do is head over to Flickr and join the Sew Intertwined QAL Group. We are going to take our time with this QAL, you will have until September 6th to get your quilt top into the Flickr group to be eligible for prizes.

Another Foray into Clothes

This week I took another step into clothes sewing and made 2 pairs of shorts for boys!  I was inspired by Kristy from Hopeful Threads who is gathering Little Boys Shorts to send to Cambodia.

Here are the shorts I made:

Size 18 Month Shorts

Size 12 Month Shorts

I used this fabulous tutorial AND pattern from Caila-Made. I am really happy with how they turned out. There are a couple of itty bitty puckers but overall, for my first 2 pairs, I’m pleased with them. Now I just have to explain to Anne why her Cars fabric is gone…

Today we are off to ride Thomas the Train with Anne’s Auntie Lisa and her cousins. We have been planning this since March and we are all very excited! Pictures next week!

Winners & Broken Time

First I have to start out with the fact that I am in absolute shock and awe that my last giveaway for my first ever custom bundle over at Contemporary Cloth had 926 entries! WOW! That is just so AMAZING!

Now for the winners, each will receive their own BitterSweet Bundle Fly Away, and for those who didn’t win, you can buy your own!

Sandy B and Barbara. I will be sending both of you emails later today.

Now on to my next bundle for Contemporary Cloth. First I will tell you how I started. I was going through the Yuwa Japanese fabrics on the Contemporary Cloth site, these are Japanese fabrics that I haven’t seen anywhere else. They are all very interesting, Modern, and like nothing I have seen before. I picked one print (upper left) and built the bundle around it.

The Yuwa Print, Kei, for some reason makes me think of a broken or disassembled old fashioned clock, you know, the kind with gears.  After that the rest of the fabrics just fell into place and the Broken Time Bundle was born.  This bundle is available exclusively at Contemporary Cloth for purchase and would add some great basics to your stash as well as a fantastic focal print.

What do you think? Do you see the inspiration? Broken Time?
