Intrepid Thread Highlight & Giveaway

Welcome all Blog Hoppers from Quilting Gallery! If this is your first time here please take a few moments to check out my tutorials section and if you see something you like I would love it if you would follow my blog (there are lots of ways to do so in my sidebar!).

Do you like fresh modern fabrics? Do you like excellent customer service? How about just a little fabric eye candy? If so, then The Intrepid Thread is the fabric shop for you!

Julie recently launched her new website and there are so many features that I love that I don’t really know where to start. The shop is split into 8 sections: Coming Soon, Fabrics by Collection, Fabrics by Designer, Fabrics by Manufacturer, Just Arrived, Patterns and Notions, Pre-Cuts and Bundles, and lastly but by no means least – Sale Fabrics.

To celebrate the Grand Opening of the new website Julie is offering a 10% off coupon GRNDOPN10 through March 22nd.

Julie started her own business because she wanted to create a fabric shopping experience that encompassed superior customer service and offered the top of the line modern fabrics. She has accomplished all of that and more. She has a reputation for her impeccable taste in fabrics and she is more than happy to put together a custom bundle and help customers choose coordinating fabrics. She did this for me recently, helping me pick out fabrics for my month in Sew Bee Blissful – she put a custom bundle together of Ty Pennington’s Impressions Line.

I LOVE Intrepid Thread’s Coming Soon Section. Here are a two of my favorite lines that are coming out soon:

Flying Free – Coming in April 2012

Kharma Baby – Coming in April 2012
(Please – one of my friend please get preggers so I have an excuse!!!)

Now Julie and I want to know what your favorites are in the coming soon section. You may be asking yourselves: “And what are you going to offer in exchange for our valuable opinions (yes they are valuable!)?”

How does a Fat Quarter Bundle of Desert Daydreams in Santa Fe Sky sound?!? This is the exact same bundle I used when I made my Desert Daydreams Apron that went out in The Intrepid Thread newsletter last night – now you can make one too if you like. Of course you can absolutely make something else too if you are the big winner!

There will be 3 entries available for this giveaway (to enter you must be a follower of my blog – this does not count as an entry):

  1. Head over to the coming soon section of The Intrepid Thread website and tell us your favorite line (1 entry)
  2. Like Sew BitterSweet Designs on Facebook – come back and tell me you did (1 entry)

Bee Blocks

I am participating in 3 bees right now where I exchange blocks with others: the 3×6 Sampler Mini Quilt Bee, 4×5 Modern Quilt Bee, and Sew Bee Blissful. I also am doing 2 charity “bees”: do. Good Stitches (Trust Circle) and Quilting for Kids.

All my blocks for this quarter and for March are finally completed and I thought I would share them all with you!

That is all my sewing for other people this month. My month is in May for Sew Bee Blissful, I have my fabrics in hand and I need to start cutting and getting ready to mail it all out next month! What bees are you in?

Tomorrow is the start of the Giveaway Blog Hop being hosted by Michele at Quilting Gallery, make sure you stop by, I have something special in store for you!

2 More Finishes!

Well, I am calling one of these a finish, but it still needs to be quilted. I completed my first ever Quilt-A-Long! I can’t tell you how excited I am to have actually finished it AND finished it in time.

I would like to start with a huge thank you to Jenna from SewHappyGeek, for designing such a gorgeous quilt and having amazingly easy to follow tutorials. She is so talented! If you aren’t already following her blog you really should! My second thank you is to my dear friend Dawn, who surprised me with the gift of Rendezvous in November – my favorite fabric line from this winter. As you can see, it makes a gorgeous quilt!

(As a side note, I finished the top last Friday and I’m super glad I took pictures that day because since then we have had nothing but rain and snow here!)

I have one more finish to share…my first ever APRON! And…it is my own design!

I am calling this the “Desert Daydreams Apron”. The fabrics are designed by Khristian Howell (who also designed Rendezvous – yes I love her fabrics!). Julie from Intrepid Thread sent me a fat quarter bundle of Desert Daydreams in Santa Fe Sky and this is what I came up with. Do you like it?!? If so, make sure you are signed up to receive Julie’s newsletter, it goes out tomorrow and my tutorial for the apron will be in there (you can sign up from the Intrepid Thread Blog)!

In case you are wondering, this is how I keep myself out of trouble…it helps that Anne has been taking 3 hour long naps lately! I am really going to miss nap time when it goes away, which everyone keeps telling me is going to happen any day now.

Are you keeping busy and out of trouble?

Zig Zag Zoomed!

I have a finish! An important finish! I finished the baby quilt for my Sister-in-Law! She is having her baby in about a month and I needed to get it done because I now have to ship it to Albuquerque, NM. I have threads left to bury, which I will be working on tonight.

I used Jungle Babies for the backing

Here’s a close-up of the quilting. I used my 1/4″ Accufeed foot and did some straight line stitching

Anne LOVED the quilt too – thankfully she has lots of her own quilts, so I don’t think she will miss this one too much!

Oh yeah! It is also my first ever scrappy binding!

This is one of the projects I wanted to finish this quarter for Rhonda’s 2012 Finish-A-Long over at Quilter in the Gap.

I love a good finish, don’t you?!?

Weekend Sewing

Happy Monday! Did you remember to change your clocks? If not, no biggie, you will just be an hour early for everything!

Not too much sewing got done this weekend. I spent most of Saturday sleeping and recovering from the nasty little bug. No rest for me the rest of the week though, my hubs is out of town all week, so it is just me and Anne.  She keeps telling me she wants to sleep in my mommy’s bed, but I’m trying hard to not start that habit, so far I am winning the battle, we will see how long it lasts!

Yesterday I did make 2 blocks for the 3×6 Bee I am in on Flickr, well one was a re-make.

I also finished up the Zig Zag Zoom quilt – I still need to bury the threads though. I will post pictures of it later this week, I am waiting for better light – although that might all be in vain seeing as I live in Washington where the sun is lacking these days!

Did you get anything done this weekend?
