Put Your Sewing Where Your Mouth Is!

For the longest time I was afraid/intimidated/totally freaked out by some of the projects over at Hopeful Threads. I always wanted to participate but I thought my “sewing” skills weren’t quite up to snuff. I am beginning to realize that those were just my own little fears. You see, I consider myself a quilter, not a sewist, but I am working on changing that. I have made a handful of dresses now (5 to be exact), a couple pairs of shorts and now I have made my second ever stuffie. I am doing my best to put my sewing where my mouth is!

This month the project at Hopeful Threads is to fill Kristy’s car with FLUFF!  I am excited about this project as it benefits foster children, and it is my belief that every child needs someone to love. Here is the adorable owl I sewed up using a wonderful pattern by MyFunnyBuddy. I used some of my all time favorite Alexander Henry fabrics (they are leftovers from a dress I made Anne last spring).

Owl Squishy

You can see all the adorable items that have been sewn here in the flickr group. Are you sewing fluff this month?

  1. Cute! I’m busting my butt today to get a shirt finished up and resewing some quilt blocks. I really want to make a stuffy or two.

  2. I love your owl! 🙂 It is going to make a little person very happy! I am going to be finishing up some stuffies and a quilt block tonight and hopefully tomorrow I can have pics in the Flickr album! 🙂

  3. Very cute! I hadn`t heard about this project at hopeful threads, I will have to check it out!

  4. I think your owl is wonderful! Your sewing skills seem just fine to me each time you show something you’ve made that isn’t a quilt.
