The last 2 days I have been happily sewing away on a set of purses. I’m only showing you one here because they are completely identical. I followed a fabulous tutorial and pattern from verypurpleperson. I found the pattern on Pinterest by searching for reversible tote patterns. I made this bag as part of a swap group I’m in on Facebook – Sew Swap Share. The challenge this quarter is for a re-usable grocery bag. I decided my partner needed a chic reversible grocery bag made from some lovely home dec fabric by Anna Maria Horner, the design is “Drawing Room”. I already know that my partner is happy with the pictures and can’t wait to mail hers off to her. The extra one will be one of my new bags for farmer’s market and perhaps just around town too.
I’m torn…can’t decided if I like the blue better or the pink?!?
I just wanted to show off the darts a bit. I thought they were a nifty design feature – different take on a boxy bottom if you will.

gorgeous bag! I didn’t get to sew much this weekend – our orchard was open for apple blossom days…with no blossoms 😉 Hopefully I’ll get some major sewing in tomorrow!

Very cool – those darts are unusual for sure! I tend to be a little more understated, so I’d have to go with the blue side, but the pink is pretty too!
What did we do this weekend? Well, I finished up a Christmas snowman advent calendar for the lady I trade with (I piece, she quilts), and with the scraps from that I made her a smaller WELCOME wall hanging, also with a snowman. After that, I started to cut out my own tote bag – I’m using a clean feed sack – not feed sack fabric, and actual, recycled, soon-to-be upcycled Goat Feed sack from the zoo. It has the cutest picture of 2 goats on it, and being made out of that woven plastic, it’s just about indestructible. After that gets done, I’ve got to make another harness for the ring-tailed cats – apparently, David was a little bored waiting for his appearance onstage, and he chewed thru it, in not one, but TWO places. I’ve gotta figure out what I can use they won’t chew up easily and won’t be toxic if they do. Any ideas? Can’t be wider than 1/2 inch, and must be able to double back on itself & be sewn.

I used this same tutorial to make a tote last year and the pattern is FABULOUS. I LOVE how your bag turned out!!
