Where Have I Been?

I know I have been a negligent blogger lately, but in exchange I have been very involved in what has been going on with my family.  As most of you know, we are a military family. My husband is a US Soldier and sometimes his job takes him to far off places for long stretches of time.  Last week we started another deployment.  There is nothing easy about this time in our lives. I wish I could sugar coat it but I can’t. We all miss each other terribly but are doing our best to buck up and move forward.  Our last night together we took some silly photos together to help make us smile and remember while we are apart. I thought I would share a couple with you.

A nice simple one (my mom’s favorite family pose):

We miss each other, but we are getting by.  This is Anne’s third deployment and she is a trooper though I wish she didn’t have to be.

My goal for this month has fallen to the wayside as I have focused more on things that make Anne happy, we are working on a Halloween project that I will show off next week, but the Elsa dress has made no progress except the purchase of fabrics. Luckily I have 2 more months until it NEEDS to be done.

School starts soon, which means we will have a routine again. I think this will be the best thing for both of us. Days that are full of activities and people.

So that’s where I have been and what’s going in our lives. What’s going on with you?

  1. Many thanks to you and your family for the sacrifices you all make in the interest of defending our freedom and our American way of life. It may not get said often enough, but it is appreciated.

  2. Best of luck with your deployment time! Our son just returned from his. Luckily his wife and baby were able to come spend some time with us, which help everyone! We appreciate what you guys give up! Great pictures 🙂

  3. Having lived yourlife for 20 years I feel your heartbreaking seperation. No matter what I say will not bring him home but busy yourself and your daughter in daily activities and remember to have some fun. I used to have to wait months for a letter. Now they have the internet. You will see his handsome face soon. You are all three in my prayers! Hold tight and stand strong! Military wives are the strongest!

  4. It is because of families like yours that we enjoy the freedoms that we take for granted. Thank you! Our prayers are with you.

  5. My family thanks your family for your service. Unfortunately, my August goal is a total fail, so far.

  6. Separations are so very difficult, especially deployments. I have been through several deployments, but with my daughters. No matter which family member is away, it is difficult. I have to agree with Elizabeth, military families have to be the strongest. Prayers for your soldier’s safe, swift return and for the strength and peace you need as a mom to get through this time. Your blog readers will be here whenever you have time for us!! Thank you for your family’s sacrifice for the safety of our nation.

  7. I send my heartfelt gratitude to your family. I will pray for you. Thank you soooooooo much!

  8. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for your family’s service!!!! The family photos are precious. I wish I could make this time easier or go faster. You, your husband and AM will be in my prayers often. Do what you have to do to survive. Know that you aren’t alone. Your guild and I are hear to help whenever you need us.

P.S. The first photo is my favorite, but that could be because of the awesome shirt you are rockin’. 🙂

  9. I second Heather’s emotion. Thank you. You are so right. Being back to a familiar routine will help the time pass more quickly until your husband’s safe return. Your pics are great. What a perfect send-off!!

  10. God’s speed on a fast return from his deployment. Quilt, Quilt Quilt while he is gone. It is never easy. During the first gulf war I left my 7 year old son to serve in Saudi Arabia. It is never easy !

  11. I am sorry you are going through another deployment. I know yours in the US are longer than ours in Canada too. I have been through four but only one with kids and it’s much harder with kids. All the best to you guys. Glad school is starting soon and the routine will help.

  12. keeping your family in my prayers! i call you the “little anne family”. we didn’t have too many deployments, but they were always hard. one move of many, many moves, however, my little boy threw himself down on the grass and sobbed to be leaving his friends…i decided we had to get out of the army. as it turned out, we didn’t and we had lots of very positive experiences for many years after that. life is always interesting and i always know everything will be ok. sometimes okay be dang hard, though! take care and know lots of people are thinking of you.
