I have decided that I need a bit of a mental break. I still want to sew, I just don’t want to have to fuss with math and design and all the jazz that comes with designing patterns. So for the next little bit here I am going to work on the Curve It Up Challenge that Sew Kind of Wonderful is hosting right now.
I picked out some American Made Brand solids that I bought from my LQS this summer and whipped up the first block today. It is a curved version of a Churn Dash block. It measure 16.5″ x 16.5″ and I was able to do it in less than an hour.
So be looking for more of these curvy blocks from me soon!
PS. If I complete this, it will be my first successful QAL (that I didn’t run)!
Cool looking block
I know you will complete it. You are fabulous that way. 🙂 Curves still scare me, but I want to get that ruler and see if I can figure them out.
You’re awesome! Let’s get this done!
You Go girl! I love churn dash blocks, and this one is awesome!
I love the churn dash block. So cute and love the fabric colors too! Great job!
Love this block, love the colors, LOVE the size! I’ve kept resisting this ruler, but I might have to break down at the AQS show next week.
Love this block – I made a 12 1/2″ one for my bee mates and Ring Around the Briar Rosies quilt was inspired by it. Good luck!
Sometimes you just have to step back and let someone else take on the calculations and working out mantle, in order to preserve your sanity!
An hour?! Awesome 🙂 You’ll do great with the QAL too
Love your curved churn dash. Also the clean, crisp look of the solids.
Neat block, and love your color choices.
Very nice block — love the colors!
