I am sew excited! I have been asked to be part of the first ever Sew Kind of Wonderful Blog Hop. I had the privilege of meeting Jenny a few years ago at Sew Expo in Puyallup, WA. I bought her ruler and quickly fell in love!
Over the years I have done a few projects with Jenny’s ruler. My first project was her Urban 9 Patch that she had as a QAL on her blog. Check out these blocks I finished back in September of 2012 (yup, I’ve had a pretty long love affair with the Quick Curve Ruler):
Later that year I made a couple pinwheel blocks for a swap. I didn’t actually have a pattern to makes these two, which is why they aren’t exactly the same. This ruler is so simple, you can improvise your own blocks once you have Jenny’s techniques down.

After perusing the book I fell in love with the Crazy Eights Pillow. It sewed up so quickly and was so much fun to quilt! I finished this project during 3 nap times last week (I measure sewing time based on the naps that my daughter takes), so it definitely goes together fast, and sometimes we just need a quick finish!
It will go perfectly with my Gray, Yellow and Aqua quilt that I have been working on for the last 2 years. Hopefully having a pillow done to match the quilt will encourage me to actually finish the quilt!
If you are at all interested in curves, I highly suggest trying out the quick curve ruler, you will find that Jenny and Helen have figured out how to completely demystify curves.

Wonderful examples of what you can do with this ruler.
Your yellow aqua and grey quilt must be finished! It is my new inspiration for modern quilting. I also love the urban 9 patch that is aqua and purple. I have made the Tic Tac deco but my color choices weren’t the best as the aqua/mint combo fades out against the bright orange and org/aqua blocks. I’ll post it on the linky thing later. May you have many happy quilt nap hours (till she’s old enough to start quilting).

I keep looking at the Metro Lattice pattern. It would be my first attempt at curved piecing! I love the blocks you made using the ruler as well as your grey, yellow & aqua quilt top in progress.

I love your projects – especially the pinwheel. I’ve been wanting to try this ruler.
I’ve never been all that interested in curved quilts, though I made a few Wedding Ring sections and did a little Drunkard’s Path once, as well as some lotto blocks with curves. I see the ruler all the time at quilt shows, and demonstrations of its use. It seems if one is going to do curves, that’s the way to go. I really like your two blocks shown, and don’t know which one I prefer.
Your pinwheel blocks look great! Love that you designed them yourself. I hope to some day “play” around and try to come up with new designs of my own, but in the mean time, I will be learning with the curve it up pattern and Metro Twist. 🙂 Hopefully I’ll get the technique down. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your Quick Curve projects. I have made the table runner that comes with the ruler. A really good intro to how the ruler works. I also have an Urban Nine Patch partially done and several other of Jenny’s patterns in queue. The ruler is a great deal of fun.

Thanks for sharing. I love going to SewExpo, I live right here in Puyallup and I’m pretty sure I saw a demo for the Quick Curve Ruler but didn’t see how versatile it was, wish I had bought one now. I love the Metro Lattice pattern.
I’ve had a pretty long love affair as well – and I remember when you won the bag, that was so cool. Especially drawn to the purple and blue QAL block, you made more than I did by far.
That pillow will be beautiful with that gorgeous quilt. I have not made anything with that ruler.
