November Bee Blocks

This year I am participating in Sew Bee Blissful. It is a virtual quilting bee organized by Jenna from SewHappyGeek.

November is Ella’s month, she blogs at Throw a Wrench in the Works. She participates in a couple of bees and really liked the wonky stars that were created for her other bee.  She gave us this inspiration mosaic and some gorgeous fabrics!

Nov inspiration!

Ella also provided us with a tutorial to follow from Silly BooDilly. Here is what I came up with for her – this is my first attempt at wonky stars. They had to be 12.5 inch blocks and she requested a small improv block. as well.

In my efforts to make them extra wonky I did wonky centers. My improv block is not wonky at all. I just wanted to showcase some of the beautiful fabrics that Ella sent us. I hope she likes them!

Do you participate in any bees or swaps?

  1. These look great – I love the fact you did wonky centers for the stars. The fabric she sent is so fun, I can’t wait to start working with it =)

  2. great blox … swapping is fun, but i do not participate in them, or any other of the shared fun of quilting … except for blogger browsing, i can usually do.

  3. Love the wonky stars. Actually I love anything that doesn’t need to have exact points! Lazy quilter here. I belong to one bee through my guild and have been particiipating in online quilting forums swapping blocks & fabrics for a good 10 years. Wth the increased cost of fabrics and postage I expect the sheer number of swaps and people will diminish.

  4. Gorgeous blocks! Well I`ve just joined the 4th quarter of the Modern 4×5 Quilt Bee and am very excited about that and I`m on the waiting list for Do. Good Stiches. I love the idea of bees and am always on the look out for a good one!

  5. I so love your blocks. I’m really glad you made them right away as now I have a mental template when I make mine! They’re really lovely, she’ll be so pleased to get them!
