Secret Project

keep-calm-and-shhhh-shhToday I start working on a new fun secret project. Not sure when I will be able to share it with you but know that I am sewing my heart out this weekend trying to hit a deadline. Next week I will show you all the Hazel mini quilts I finished this week. I am really quite tickled with how they turned out!

In the meantime, happy sewing!

July Charity Sewing

I’m a bit behind in posting these blocks, but then I was a bit behind in making them because we went on vacation for the last week of July and first two weeks of August.

Trust Circle - Do Good Stiches - July 2015 Block (2)The first two blocks are log cabin blocks in bright cheerful colors. These were requested by Jessica (@plumpatchwork on Instagram).  I think this is going to be a gorgeous and happy quilt when it is all put together.

Trust Circle - Do Good Stitches July 2015 - Block for AlexThis happy little paper pieced block was a challenge for me (I’m not used to so many TINY pieces). It was a free pattern on Craftsy offered by Kristy from Quiet Play. She is such a talented designer! You should really check out her blog!  This block is for a secret project, hopefully I can share more about it later.

Have you been doing any charity sewing lately? I have a few more blocks to make for my guild and the August blocks for Do Good Stitches. Sewing for others really does make me happy.

Have a happy hump day!

A Fun Weekend

Hypnotic Eye - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comMy people went with me down to Portland for the Quilt! Knit! Stitch! show and I got to see my quilt “Hypnotic Eye” hanging. It was such a fun experience.

Here’s a picture of just the quilt.

The quilt was hanging in the Black to White modern quilting challenge:

Black to White Exhibit - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comHere is a picture of the full exhibit. It was such an honor to have a quilt hanging amongst such gorgeous quilts. The quilters in the Pacific Northwest sure do have some talent!

I hope have a wonderful Monday!

What do quilters do on vacation?

We quilt of course!

I spent yesterday afternoon pin basting a quilt top that my mom made and starting today I will be working on quilting it.

Mom's Log Cabin - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.com

I had originally planned to just use cream thread all over it but then once I got it laid out and pinned, I fell in love with her colors and we went out and bought some green and red thread.  I haven’t 100% figured out my quilting plan yet. I’m torn between feathers and a large stipple…time will tell!

Oh, and I brought down my own machine to quilt on! No sense fussing trying to learn the ins and outs of mom’s machine when I already know all the kinks to my own machine.  It is a well traveled machine!

Oh! And I forgot to mention that quilters also buy fabric while on vacation…but don’t tell my husband that little secret!

Happy Thursday!
