I LOVE LOVE LOVE rainbow quilts. I think they are bright and cheerful and it is hard not to smile when you see them. I made one last week for a wonderful friend, who happens to share a birthday with me. In fact, I sewed the top on our birthday!

The half square triangles were all made from charms. I mixed low volume prints with saturated color prints. I am very happy with the overall effect. Each square measures 2.5″ finished. I am told that the recipient just loves it, which makes me happy!

It was hard to send it off but given who I was sending it to, I am glad it will be loved!

This was also one of the four goals I spoke of on the July ALYOF link up party! I am actually half way done now because I can’t blog about the second finish until later this year!!!  It is a commission quilt and I’m super happy with how it turned out.

Sorry I’ve been so silent. Now that my husband is back home, I am going to make a more concerted effort to be on the blog more.

alyof2015Welcome to July! The year is now half over and it might even be time for you to start busting out those Christmas presents. Some of us are not that great at last minute sewing, so we may as well start now!

This month I will be working on 4 major projects, all with a July deadline, two for July 15th and two for July 31st, but since we only set one goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes, I am picking the Modern Quilt Guild Riley Blake fabric challenge.  Submissions are due on July 31st and I am hoping to be done by then. I started yesterday…

Riley Black 2015 Challenge - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI made my own template for a 15 degree wedge and just kind of winged it. I have a plan for how I want to quilt it, I just hope with all my other looming deadlines I can get it done!

I’m super in love with how it turned out and you will eventually see a large version of her. I was torn on hand stitching antennae on her, but ultimately decided to leave them off.

She measures 18″ x 18″. And I hope she is well loved!
