As I am taking a break from 3×6 this quarter (even though I need 14 more blocks!), my only “bee” sewing is for Do. Good Stitches Trust Circle.
This month Kristy asked us to make some Low Volume Bricks measuring 12″ x 24″. Here is what I found in my stash – I can’t believe I had so many low volume prints!
It really is much more cheerful in person, I had one heck of a time trying to photograph low volume fabrics. Live and learn!

This pattern features a great use of negative space which is wonderful for people like me who are just starting to learn free motion quilting – it provides a beautiful space to practice. Welcome to September, the start of school (at least in Washington), the start of autumn (definitely in Washington), and for me…the start of my Christmas sewing! I probably should have started months ago, but I’ve had A LOT going on. My goal for September is to quilt my Vintage Christmas Sampler – if I am feeling scrappy I might even bind it, but my actual goal is to simply get it quilted. All of the tutorials for these blocks are available on my blog, just follow the link above and remember, they were all written for a scant 1/4″ seam!
This quilt could easily be made modern with some different fabric choices, but I went with what I had in my stash at the time. I cannot wait to snuggle underneath this at Christmas!
