3 x 6 Bee – Star Hive Blocks

Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven’t been around much this week! I’ve been working on my Season By Hand project and that has consumed my time. That and the fact that summer showed up this week and Anne and I have been busy enjoying the sun.  Oh yeah, and she decided to grow up when I wasn’t looking, I registered her for pre-school on Tuesday. She was excited, I was ready to cry! LOL

Last month I finished my star hive blocks for the 3×6 Bee. I really need to get both sets of my blocks off in the mail, but that hasn’t happened yet. Luckily I have until July 15th to get them mailed.  For the star hive I decided to do the hexie star that I did a tutorial for back in November 2012. I love how they turned out.

A quick apology, I am terribly behind on email again, I will catch up over the weekend! I promise!

What have you all been up to? Don’t forget you have until Friday to link up your goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes!

A Season By Hand

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to share with you a wonderful blog hop I will be participating in this summer – A Season by Hand with Clover & Violet.  My project will be unveiled at the end of this month and I can’t wait to share it with you!  As anyone who follows me on Facebook knows, I spend much of my evening basting away on my hexies while hanging out with my hubs.

Jennie and Clara are the creative minds behind Clover & Violet and they have organized a Season By Hand! This summer they have arranged some seriously amazing bloggers who are going to show off some inspirational projects for you to enjoy. There will also be sponsors throughout and this fun series will have a linky with prizes at the end to share projects you have created.

A Lovely Year of Finishes – June Goal Setting Party

Well now how do you like that! June just snuck right up on me! I thought for sure, based on the weather here in beautiful Olympia, WA, that it was still February!  We had such low temperatures last week that my 2 basil plants got FROST damage!  Here’s hoping for a warmer month this month!

It is now time to set our goals. I have have an adorable quilt that I would like to get quilted up and a pattern written for! You might recognize the design, but this is a much larger scale. I will be writing the pattern for a baby/lap quilt size and also for a king size. The king size will consist of 4 blocks total, let me tell you, it looks super cool all mocked up!

Your turn! Shanna and I are excited to see what you have planned for the month of June!

As always, we have some amazing prizes offered by our fantastic sponsors, please make sure you take the time to visit each one and give them a little love. This challenge wouldn’t be near as much fun without them!

Remember, to be eligible for prizes you must link up to the party and the end of month party showing off your finish. We have a mid-month party too but it is not required, more for fun and cheering each other on!

June Prizes Include:

 1. Choice of $15 or 2 charm packs from Stitch n’ Giggles

2. Loving Pieces donated from Paper Pieces

3. $20.00 Gift Certificate from the Quilting Lodge

4. A Fat Quarter Bundle from Moda United Notions

5. $15.00 Gift Certificate to Fat Quarter Shop

6. $25.00 Gift Certificate to Superior Threads

May Bee Blocks – Do. Good Stitches

I bet you thought I didn’t do any blocks for Do. Good Stitches this month, huh? I didn’t I am just late in posting them. This month I am the quilter and I asked my group to make space related blocks. Each person makes 2 blocks a month, so I asked that one block from each person be a star and to make sure we weren’t doubling on up on star blocks.  The second block could be anything space related. Here are the 2 blocks that I came up with:

This is the cute little alien guy that I designed. He is machine appliqued onto a Kona Black background. I asked Anne to name him and she said he should be “Sweet Alien”. I love 3 year olds!

This was my star block. I decided to do a Hexi Star block following a tutorial I wrote last November.

I am really looking forward to putting this quit together!
