A few pictures

Happy Friday Everyone! I thought I would share with you a few pictures from our vacation. A few of my favorites if you will.

This first one was taken by my hubs, before he married me the only cameras he had ever used were disposable, my how his skills have grown!

This next one is special because every time I have ever gone to Yosemite National Park (almost every year of my life until I moved to WA) I have had my picture taken in the fireplace at the Ahwahnee Hotel. With each picture you could see how much I had grown. This is Anne’s first picture in front of it and our first family picture. Very sentimental if you will.

While we were in Yosemite we went up to Badger Pass, the ski resort that is inside the park. We didn’t go to ski, we went so Anne could have some fun playing in the snow, and believe me she did. She spent the whole time throwing snowballs at “her people” as she was calling us.

I hope everyone has a great day! Today is my hubs last day of leave, back to the Army he goes on Monday. We have had such a wonderful time off.

Pictures next week of what he did to my sewing room while he was on leave, holy moly he made some big changes!!!

Strip Quilters – A Pop of Color Top

I have to say, now that I have good pictures of this top, I truly love it and I can’t wait to see what the last 2 quilters do with it. I mail this off next week and await the next top in the mail. I will be so sad when this group ends in 4 months, it has really stretched my skills and my quilting imagination!

Stripper Strings

Oh wow! Now that I’m reading that title it looks really bad!  I’m hoping most of you realize that the stripper part refers to the Strip Quilter group I am a part of on Flickr. We are in the midst of round 4 and I finished my row yesterday. I attached it to the rest of the top but the pictures of the whole top together so far are AWFUL, so I will need to re-shoot another day. In the mean time the picture of the row turned out fairly well.

For those that didn’t guess from the title, I made string blocks. I will be doing a tutorial for these blocks later this month as part of the My Favorite Quilt Block QAL that is going on with Persimon Dreams, I will be the last one to go, and can I just say the blocks so far have been A-MAZ-ING!

This particular row is for FairlyMerry, she requested black and white with pops of Melon, which she provided, and it was a good thing too because this particular color was not in my stash!  I hope she likes them!

I will try and get another pic of the top as it is now with 4 rows on it but it won’t happen today as we are finally taking Anne to Seattle to ride the Ferris Wheel since she has wanted to go since the moment her daddy walked off the plane!

Hopeful Threads – Spreading the Fluff

Back again this month, I have the wonderful Kristy here to talk about the latest project over at Hopeful Threads. This one is especially dear to her heart and I hope you will be able to find some time this month to join me in sewing some Fluff for Foster Care!

_______________________________________________________________________________

Hi Sew BitterSweet Friends!

I’m so thankful to be back this month to share a very special Hopeful Threads project with you!

This month is extra special, as we are using the project as a way to help celebrate the 1 year anniversary of our youngest daughter’s adoption from foster care. We are doing this by sewing and donating stuffed toys for our Juvenile Court to distribute to children in foster care when they attend court hearings in conjunction with their case. We are calling it “Fluff For Foster Care” and would love to have you join us!

You can get all the details about the project on the Hopeful Threads blog here.

We have lots of fun inspiration, ideas and even giveaways planned for the whole month, so there’s sure to be LOTS of fluffy fun!

Remember, EVERY STITCH MATTERS! Every single stuffed toy donated means one more child who will receive this special gift and comfort. Our goal is to STUFF our van full and we are off to a great start! Come on over and learn more!
