Christmas

Because everyone needs giraffe pants…

This week I made Anne a pair of giraffe pants. You may remember her giraffe hoodie I made last year.

Giraffe Hoodie 4 - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comHoly cuteness batman! I mean seriously!

Well, this weekend we were going through her pants drawer looking for sweats, only to discover that none of her pairs fit anymore. Not surprising since she has grown about 4″ from last winter. Happily I had just barely enough giraffe fabric left over to make her a lovely pair of pants!

Giraffe Pants - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comIf you ask me, she is still pretty darn cute!

I made my own pattern using a pair of her jeans and I serged them together on the Pfaff serger that I never use.  Then I hemmed them and put in the waistband on my Janome 15000. I love that I’ve gotten to the point in my sewing where I am quite content to sew without patterns. It’s a nice morale booster for this lady!

So here is the first of my Christmas sewing, these are an early present to her so she doesn’t freeze during our Pacific Northwest winter.

Happy Holiday Sewing!

A Lovely Year of Finishes – December Goal Party

alyof2015

Hello December! That wonderful time of year, filled with cheery lights and manic sewing. Deadlines to hit and not a single extra minute to spare.  Those homemade gifts are always well loved and received because people know you went the extra mile.

My goal is to finish up a couple of gifts for family and teacher gifts too. No pictures to show other than to say, I will be spending some quality time with the embroidery unit on my machine!

More Christmas Sewing

While we have been at my mom’s house I have been able to get some sewing done. My mom has a Janome 8900, which is a lovely machine to sew on, if I do say so myself.

On Thursday I made Anne a new skirt for our family reunion this weekend. I don’t have any pics of Anne wearing the shirt, but here is a pic of it all finished.

The pattern was super frustreating but my mom and I are talented enough sewists that we were able to figure it out and make it work.

How is your holiday sewing shaping up?

A Visit With Santa

I love this age, Santa is finally fun and exciting, as opposed to scary and frightening.  I thought I would share Anne’s picture with Santa this year.  We aren’t visiting a mall Santa. Instead, our local fire department came to our neighborhood with one of the trucks decked out with lights and music, complete with Santa. They also don’t ask for money for pictures, instead they ask for canned food items to fill our local food bank. It is a win-win. Happy kids and helping our community!

Santa's Fire Truck - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comSanta was kind enough to whisper in my ear what Anne asked for too, so that makes my life so much easier!

Christmas Decorating

Well…not really. Yes our house is decorated, but what I made is intended to decorate someone else’s house.

Christmas Cathedral Window - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThis is going off in a care pack in the next day or so. I hope it’s new owner likes it.

It is a Cathedral Window ornament. I meshed together two different tutorials to make it, not really following either exactly… This tutorial by Kim from My Go-Go Life and this tutorial by Jamie from SunFlower Seeds.  I’m admittedly bad at following instructions but I think what I made works and is pretty.

I hope the recipient loves it! Though I have been assured she loves decorating for Christmas so that does give me hope!
