Pattern Release!

I am so excited to release a new pattern today! Well it isn’t really new, it actually appeared in Issue 7 of Make Modern Magazine back in September of 2015.  Allow me to introduce you to Through The Prism.

Through The Prism - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThis pattern was originally designed for a friend in my birthday club but I fell in love with the design and decided I needed one for myself, then I ended up making a third for another swap! The pattern is fast and easy requiring small scraps for each rainbow section.

I provide a link to a basic paper piecing tutorial as well as instructions for my favorite paper piecing method that doesn’t involve sewing through the templates.

Stacked Pyramids Quilt

Many of you may be familiar with my quilt block pattern, Stacked Pyramids.

It is a fun and versatile block. Back in November, I was the quilter for Do. Good Stitches and I sent everyone in my circle a free copy of my pattern and asked them to please create two blocks using aqua, raspberry and Kona Ash for the background. Can I just say that these ladies sure do know how to deliver!

Close Up - Stacked Pyramids Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.com I have to admit that I love this quilt and it will be hard to let go of, but I am so glad that it will go to a foster child in need of some love and comfort.

I couldn’t resist a full shot outside. With no on here to help me, I took my design wall out and put it right up against my garage. Welcome to my home!

Have a very happy Wednesday!

Anne’s Last Day of School

Tuesday was Anne’s last day of preschool (sort of, she goes to preschool again next year too). I can’t believe how much she has grown! Over 2 inches, and she is just becoming the most amazing little person. I love her so much!

First Last Day of School - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comWhat I love is that after all these months, she is still saying she wants to be a pilot. I need to work on making her dream of flying come true!

Of course I had to make year end teacher gifts too! I ended up going back to the wonderful Craftsy class I took, Beginning Serging and made the awesome pouch from the class – except I made it FIVE times.  I really do love this pattern. The best part is I was able to do all 5 pouches entirely from my stash. This fact simply proves that I keep way too many craft supplies on hand because I needed 18″ zippers (5) in varying colors, fusible fleece and fabrics for the inside and out in the teacher’s favorite colors. Go figure I would have everything on hand.

2014 Teacher Gifts - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comDid you make end of year teacher gifts?

We are off to Anne’s end of year picnic with her school now, have a wonderful afternoon!!!

This was also one of my goals for Q2 of the FAL with Katy from The Littlest Thistle!

Craftsy Class Giveaway

craftsylogo250.gifDo you take classes on Craftsy?  I have been taking them now for over a year now and I have to say, I am completely sold!

I have learned how to use my serger – which has always intimidated me. I even learned how to thread it!!!  Beginning Serging has been such a fun class!

Boxed Bag - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThis is one of my projects from the serging class – a boxed bag; the zipper and everything were all done on the serger. My pull tab was a bit off when I took this picture, but it was quickly fixed before I sent it off to its final destination!

I have learned some fantastic quilting tips, tricks and techniques from Leah Day
