Edge to Edge Quilting

Customer Quilt – Shanna’s Postage Stamp Quilt

Sorry I have been so absent lately, family life needs to always come first and Anne is my number one concern. I only have a few minutes to type this while she is busy with a task and I just finished up my latest customer quilt. To see my most recent finishes check out my Facebook Page or my Instagram Account!

Have you ever felt like you’ve been given an extremely special gift? That’s how I felt last month when Shanna from Fiber of All Sorts asked me to quilt her very first quilt top that she made!  I felt so incredibly honored and at the same time scared! It had to be perfect because this it this quilt that made her a quilter!

I decided it needed curvy orange peels, and LOTS of them!

Postage Stamp Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comDoesn’t the texture just look completely fantastic? For some reason my camera is struggling to take good pictures from far away, I will have my tech guy (also known as my dad) look at it at Christmas, but in the meantime here is a somewhat blurry picture that does not do this quilt any justice at all!

Postage Stamp Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThe texture on the back looks pretty darn amazing too!

Postage Stamp Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI just love those curvy orange peels!

Remember I do custom quilting work, I am now offering a very limited selection of extra wide backings and my rates start as low as 1.5 cents per square inch for all over edge-to-edge designs. Please keep me in mind for all of your quilting needs. I can accommodate up to king size quilts on my frame!

Customer Quilt – Minecraft Quilt

Last week I was super lucky because I got to quilt the most fun quilt I’ve seen yet, it was a Minecraft quilt made by my guild mate Kate. She participated in the Minecraft Monday’s Sew Along hosted by Kelli from Seriously…I think it needs stitches. If you have someone in your life that is into the Minecraft world, then this quilt should be on your must make list!

Minecraft Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comAfter talking with my client, we determined that she wanted a simple all over design that wouldn’t compete with the awesome piecing that she did for the blocks. We settled on an all over soft loopy design and I used Monopoly thread by Superior Threads. I have come to love using Monopoly because it is a clear thread that blends perfectly when you want the piecing to be the star of the quilt and you want the thread to melt into the background.

Here is a close up of the quilting.

Minecraft Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI have a fun quilt to show you later this week, also quilted with monopoly as soon as it is delivered to it’s new home. I don’t often follow other people’s patterns but this one was 100% worth it because it fits the recipient perfectly!

Remember! I want to quilt for you so please feel free to contact me, I still have openings for the inevitable Christmas rush!

Have a wonderfully happy Wednesday!

Quilts for Pulse – South Sound Modern Quilt Guild

The Orlando Modern Quilt Guild put out a call for Quilts for Pulse – heart quilts. My local guild, South Sound Modern Quilt Guild (SSMQG) answered the call. I donated 20 blocks to our guild and there were so many blocks donated that two quilt tops were pieced by our wonderful guild mate Teri. I volunteered to quilt one of the quilts. I feel so blessed to have gotten to work on these quilts.

I decided to do a simple all over heart design on this quilt. Partially because the more quilting is done, the heavier the quilt becomes and as these quilts were heading to Florida, I thought a heavier quilt might not be as cuddly, heavier = hotter.  I also wanted to do a simple heart design that kept with the heart/love theme.

Quilts for Pulse - SSMQG - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThis is before I trimmed the quilt, that is a Kona White background but getting the color balance just right on this photograph has proven to be a bit of a challenge for me. Some day I will invest in editing software…today is not that day.

Close Up - Quilts for Pulse - SSMQG - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI love how filled with love this quilt it. It was my first time ever quilting with Hobbs 80/20 batting and the first time Spike encountered polyester batting. It went really well. I used Superior Threads Omni on top and So Fine on the bottom, the perfect pairing of threads.

Have you been able to sew anything for Quilts for Pulse or Quilts for Peace?

Customer Quilt – Linelle’s Stars

Hello! Sorry I have been gone, Anne has been very sick, and as we all know, kids come first. While she was resting, I was able to get some work done, but not much else was accomplished.  I was given a beautiful star quilt from Linelle, a friend of someone from my quilting guild and she requested an all over edge to edge design with some special words quilted in sporadically.

Linelle's Stars - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI used Monopoly thread by Superior Threads. I love the way that it disappears into the quilt and doesn’t compete with the beautiful piecing. It also blends perfectly with every fabric because it is invisible. Plus, Spike loves it, so it is a huge win!

Close Up - Linelle's Stars - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comHere is a close up of the quilting. It was a very simple but fun design.  Linelle was very happy with how the quilt turned out, which made me very happy!

If you are on Instagram or Facebook, you will have seen the quilt blocks I’ve been working on the last few days. This particular quilt is for me, and it is an example of my full custom quilting designs that I offer to my clients. Please feel free to email me if you are interested in having me quilt for you! I would LOVE to make your quilt come to life!

Have a happy Tuesday and remember, it’s one day closer to Friday!
