Finish-A-Long

2nd Quarter Finish-A-Long Goals

It’s that time again. Time to figure out what UFOs are going to get completed this quarter, and time to link up with Rhonda from Quilter in the Gap (I need to put it out there so I hold myself responsible!!!). There are only 4 this quarter because I want to set myself up for success this time (and I know this is going to be a rough few months for me!).

First and foremost I need to finish my mom’s mother’s day gift:

I’ve made some progress on this – I need to hand quilt in the butterflies still and maybe a few hearts if I am feeling extra ambitious.

Next I want to finish a quilt top I made before Anne was born, it is from a kit that my mom bought to make a hospice quilt for my grandma. She died from breast cancer when I was in college and I want to finish the quilt finally.

My third project I can’t share pictures of yet, I need to write the pattern, my second, for a quilt I designed. Wish me luck, my LQS has already shown some interest in possibly carrying it which would be HUGE for me!

My fourth project has no pictures either, but I need to make a pay it forward gift. Gotta finish!!!

What is on your UFO list for this quarter? I also have all my other on going fun projects and what not that I’m always working on so I should be nice and busy for the next three months!

Finish-A-Long Finishes

So I wasn’t as successful as I had hoped to be with the Finish-A-Long over at Quilter in the Gap, but I am happy with how much I did get done.

To see my original list of projects I wanted to finish – check out this post.

I wanted to finish the Zig Zag Zoom quilt for my sister-in-law. She is due to have her baby in about 2 weeks and I am happy to report that it is finished and I will be shipping it this week!

My second goal was to write up two patterns this quarter, I finished one completely and it is even being sold at the Intrepid Thread. Here is the link. If you like the pattern please remember if you purchase it ALL proceeds are going to charity!

The second pattern isn’t quite as far along as I would like. I finished the top, but it still needs to be quilted and the pattern needs to be written. Oh well, I got close on that one!

My third goal was to successfully complete my first QAL. I am happy to report that I finished Jenna’s QAL at SewHappyGeek. I couldn’t be more pleased with how beautiful it looks!

My fourth goal was a super failure. I was going to make my final pay it forward gift, but…well I have no excuses, life and other things got in the way. I still have time to make it happen and I will!

My fifth goal was to make something for Valentine’s Day and I am happy to report that I did!

I love my Valentine’s Day project, and I ended up donating it to charity. It will be auctioned off for a Mission that my friend runs in Tanzania.

Did you participate in the Finish-A-Long over at Quilter in the Gap? How did you do?

PS. If you haven’t already, make sure you enter the great giveaway from Stitches N’ Giggles!

Zig Zag Zoomed!

I have a finish! An important finish! I finished the baby quilt for my Sister-in-Law! She is having her baby in about a month and I needed to get it done because I now have to ship it to Albuquerque, NM. I have threads left to bury, which I will be working on tonight.

I used Jungle Babies for the backing

Here’s a close-up of the quilting. I used my 1/4″ Accufeed foot and did some straight line stitching

Anne LOVED the quilt too – thankfully she has lots of her own quilts, so I don’t think she will miss this one too much!

Oh yeah! It is also my first ever scrappy binding!

This is one of the projects I wanted to finish this quarter for Rhonda’s 2012 Finish-A-Long over at Quilter in the Gap.

I love a good finish, don’t you?!?

I am linking up to Quilting by the River, SewHappyGeek – Manic Monday, Richard Quilts
