Mini Quilt

Working on my Free Motion Quilting

This past week I have been working on a mini quilt for a birthday club I am in.  This one is special because the person I am sewing for is a long arm quilter. Ahhhh! I hope my FMQ is up to snuff! Here is the back of my quilt. It is a rainbow octagon of my own design.  I’m pebbling and doing some straight-ish lines.

Rainbow Octagon Quilting - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comSince I am planning to bind this by turning the backing to the front I stitched the label onto the backing.  Hoping that decision doesn’t turn out to be a bad one!

Happy Friday and don’t forget that Sunday the Finishes Party opens for February A Lovely Year of Finishes!!

First Finish of 2015

Amidst all the chaos that this new year has brought to my house, I have managed to finish a project.  My Disney Quilt Swap project is done!

Disney Moment Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI’m calling this quilt “A Disney Moment”

Quilt Details:
Measurements: 19″ x 19″Quilting: Hand Quilting with Pearl Cotton #8
Applique: Fusible Applique
Fabrics: Kona Red and Michael Miller Couture Cotton Black
Design: Picture adapted by Melissa Dunworth (Me)

Today we have two inspectors coming to check the damage to my floors and assess for mold so I am putting good energy out into the universe that we have good answers. I can live with the warped floors but I can’t live with mold. Please send us some good vibes!

Have a great Wednesday!

A Disney Moment

For my Disney Mini Quilt Swap I am trying to capture a Disney moment. How did I do?

Disney Moment Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThis was yesterdays progress. I got Mickey and Minnie cut out and fused down.  I will figure out a quilting plan in the next couple days. I want to keep it simple because this is a very simple quilt. I’m even considering hand quilting… we’ll see.

Don’t forget to link up your goal for December! Maybe consider making it one of your last minute Christmas sewing projects, kill two birds with one stone. A finish for A Lovely Year of Finishes and a handmade Christmas gift.

Have a wonderful Tuesday Everyone!

Triple Star Mini Quilt

I thought it might be fun to give you a sneak peek at my next pattern, which is based on the quilt I designed for my husband and blogged about at the end of September.  I have always loved this star design that I started working on 3 years ago and it is finally going to be a mini quilt pattern!

Triple Star Mini Quilt - https://test.sewbittersweetdesigns.com

I thought Triple Star was an appropriate name for this quilt. What do you think?

Next I have to find a backing for this baby and quilt her up. I’m torn between machine and hand quilting.  Which would you want if I was sending this quilt to you? Oh and I also have to write the pattern!

This is also my October goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes, you have until tomorrow night to link up your goal for the month!
