Sew Bee Blissful

Sew Bee Blissful September Blocks

This has been the month of bee blocks for me. I made a total of 16 bee blocks – that is A LOT for me – well for anyone really.  I will share my 3×6 Bee Blocks with you next month, today I thought I would share two blocks with you that I really love, my Sew Bee Blissful blocks for Lyanna from Purple Panda Quilts. She sent us purple and green fabrics with a solid white background fabric and requested that each of us make 2 different star blocks. We each wrote into the flickr group which star we were intending to make so that there would be no duplicates. Here are the two blocks I came up with:

This block is called the Scrap Jar Star and I followed the tutorial by A Little Bit Biased.

I don’t know the name of this star, I saw it in the Tri Recs Ruler pamphlet and used the ruler to recreate it. I love how it turned out.

What have you all been up to?

April Bee Blocks

Last month I did bee blocks for the Trust Circle of Do. Good Stitches and for Sew Bee Blissful. I really love how all of the blocks turned out and it was really hard parting with the ones for Sew Bee Blissful.

The blocks are for my bee mate Contented Caroline and she says the fabrics are Tilda fabrics from a range called Summer Blues, aren’t they gorgeous!

The first quarter of the other 2 bees I am in has come to an end, and the 2nd quarter starts tomorrow. Here are the blocks I collected from my incredibly talented bee mates:

May is my month for Sew Bee Blissful. I bought my fabrics from Julie at Intrepid Thread. She helped me pick out some manly prints from the Ty Pennington Impressions line. This is going to end up being a quilt for my husband. Everyone is following the Fireflies tutorial that I shared during my Christmas Sampler and Jenna’s Sew Happy Quilt Along.

Today is the last day to enter the Fat Quarter Shop giveaway for Flock by Thomas Knauer! Go enter!

Busy Little Bee

The past couple of weeks I have been a busy little bee – literally. I thought I would share with you some of the bee blocks I have been working on.

For the Trust Circle of Do.Good Stitches I made two wonky star blocks

Here is a link to the tutorial I used

Next up I made up my blocks for Sew. Bee. Blissful

This is the Starflower Block from Jennifer at Ellison Lane Quilts

Finally I signed up for the 4×5 Bee on Flickr. I had to make 5 blocks for my hive mates. The purple and gray one is my test block and the colors I requested from my bee mates. This is a sawtooth star block – I didn’t use a tutorial – if you would like me to do one – let me know!

I am still working on blocks for the 3×6 Bee – also on Flickr. I am working on a paper pieced star for that bee (my hive is all paper pieced blocks).  I am also doing an asterisk block for Quilting for Kids – hosted by So Sarah Sews.

QuiltingforKidsWhat have you been working on? If you have been busy with Valentine’s Day projects – I want to see them!!! Link up to the Valentine’s Day Linky Party – there are some great prizes to be won!

Weekend Sewing Update

I know, I know, it is Wednesday and I’m giving you a weekend sewing update in the middle of the week. Well, what can I say, there was some pretty important stuff I had to say earlier in the week 🙂

If you haven’t already, make sure you check out Monday’s post on the Valentine’s Day Showcase

Grab the button from my sidebar and show everyone you plan to participate – so far there are 2 great prizes lined up from my wonderful sponsors!

In sewing news, I was a busy little bee this past weekend. I worked on the first two blocks from Jenna’s Sew. Happy. Quilt QAL. The Snowball and Woven blocks. I have to tell you, I love how quickly these blocks came together – I was done with both in an hour!

I’m using Rendezvous for Anthropology that I bought from Julie at Intrepid Thread. It was painful to cut into these fabrics, but I couldn’t be happier with the results!

Next up, I worked on blocks for Quilting for Kids – this is a Flickr Group run by So Sarah Sews. The group is making two quilts right now for foster children. It made my day that I could participate and help make something that will bring comfort to a child in need.

Sarah gave us a great tutorial to follow and I learned yet another great way to make Half Square Triangles.

I also worked on my bee blocks for Sew.Bee.Blissful – the month we were give some gorgeous yellow and gray prints and some solid white fabric to create Garden Fence blocks. She linked us up with this tutorial from Hyacinth Quilt Designs.

Don’t you just love her fabric choices?!? Entering 2012 has lit a fire under me, I have to figure out what I want to do for my month…egads!  My month is May so I need to have everything decided and mailed by the end of April – decisions decisions…

What have you been working on?
