April Bee Blocks

Last month I did bee blocks for the Trust Circle of Do. Good Stitches and for Sew Bee Blissful. I really love how all of the blocks turned out and it was really hard parting with the ones for Sew Bee Blissful.

The blocks are for my bee mate Contented Caroline and she says the fabrics are Tilda fabrics from a range called Summer Blues, aren’t they gorgeous!

The first quarter of the other 2 bees I am in has come to an end, and the 2nd quarter starts tomorrow. Here are the blocks I collected from my incredibly talented bee mates:

May is my month for Sew Bee Blissful. I bought my fabrics from Julie at Intrepid Thread. She helped me pick out some manly prints from the Ty Pennington Impressions line. This is going to end up being a quilt for my husband. Everyone is following the Fireflies tutorial that I shared during my Christmas Sampler and Jenna’s Sew Happy Quilt Along.

Today is the last day to enter the Fat Quarter Shop giveaway for Flock by Thomas Knauer! Go enter!

2 More Finishes!

Well, I am calling one of these a finish, but it still needs to be quilted. I completed my first ever Quilt-A-Long! I can’t tell you how excited I am to have actually finished it AND finished it in time.

I would like to start with a huge thank you to Jenna from SewHappyGeek, for designing such a gorgeous quilt and having amazingly easy to follow tutorials. She is so talented! If you aren’t already following her blog you really should! My second thank you is to my dear friend Dawn, who surprised me with the gift of Rendezvous in November – my favorite fabric line from this winter. As you can see, it makes a gorgeous quilt!

(As a side note, I finished the top last Friday and I’m super glad I took pictures that day because since then we have had nothing but rain and snow here!)

I have one more finish to share…my first ever APRON! And…it is my own design!

I am calling this the “Desert Daydreams Apron”. The fabrics are designed by Khristian Howell (who also designed Rendezvous – yes I love her fabrics!). Julie from Intrepid Thread sent me a fat quarter bundle of Desert Daydreams in Santa Fe Sky and this is what I came up with. Do you like it?!? If so, make sure you are signed up to receive Julie’s newsletter, it goes out tomorrow and my tutorial for the apron will be in there (you can sign up from the Intrepid Thread Blog)!

In case you are wondering, this is how I keep myself out of trouble…it helps that Anne has been taking 3 hour long naps lately! I am really going to miss nap time when it goes away, which everyone keeps telling me is going to happen any day now.

Are you keeping busy and out of trouble?

Sew Happy Quilt Progress

Ok, so I know I just blogged about Sew Happy Quilt last week but I just finished my last block yesterday!!!  I am sew excited! There were several things I had never done before and I wanted to tackle when I signed up for SewHappyGeek’s QAL and I am happy to say, with this last block, I have conquered them all.

Making a Dresden Plate has been something I have been wanting to do for a long time and Jenna’s tutorial made it so simple!

Jenna is having a little giveaway for those of us participating in the QAL, we have to have our quilt tops finished by March 18th – that’s next Friday. I need to get my rear in gear! This afternoon, while Anne napped, I got the Dresden Plate made and I started playing on Ole Frog Eyes until I got the layout I wanted. What do you think?

The outer border will be a medium gray – I am loving Northcott solids and I have a beautiful one that matches the lighter shade of gray in the Rendezvous fabric. I am going to sash it in white and use red for the cornerstones.  Tomorrow Anne and I will head to our LQS to get a yard of white and a fat quarter of the red. Hopefully I can get this together in time!

Are you quilting along with Jenna? I have had so much fun with this QAL and so glad that I stuck with it the whole time!

And don’t forget to enter to win a subscription of Ole Frog Eyes – I’m telling you – it is totally worth the $2.50 a month!
