Sewtopia Post 3

Sorry I am a day later posting this than I wanted to be. We had some family stuff happening this week.

One of the projects I worked on at Sewtopia was finishing up a swap quilt that I started collecting blocks for over 3 years ago.  I only know that because I have a tutorial for one of the blocks on my blog (right here).  For at least 30 of the blocks here, I made blocks in return for other people.  There are 42 blocks total. Both of my Sewtopia roomies contributed blocks to this quilt.

In order to finish the quilt and make it the size I wanted, I had to make 5 extra blocks while we were at Sewtopia and one of the blocks ended up being a square of some fabric that I just love (remnant from JoAnns).

Anne seemed to like it too when I showed it to her.

I have one more finish to show off but it needs to be photographed, in the joy of Sewtopia, it somehow never got photographed.

Sewtopia Post 2

I had the most amazing time at Sewtopia, the best part was spending time with two of my closest friends.

And here we are, all three in our “best roommates ever” glory, sporting our shirts that state quite definitively that we quilt so we don’t kill people 🙂

There was lots of socializing and quilting too. Here is one of the Do. Good Stitches quilt tops that I finally pieced together. There is no pattern for this quilt top, it is white wonky stars on a variety of solid blue backgrounds. You can totally make this quilt!!

I have more stuff to show, but I will save that for another post! If you want to see all of the fun, feel free to stop over on Instagram, you can check out my feed @sewbittersweetdesigns or for more sewtopia fun, check out the hashtag #sewtopiapdx

Have a great Monday!

From November 5 to November 8 I was in quilter heaven. A four day retreat with two of my closest friends in Downtown Portland.  No kids, no husbands, just us, our machines and 77 other awesome quilters and sewists. We had an amazing time! While I was there I got one quilt quilted, two other tops pieced, I made 5 blocks to finish one of the tops and then I made about 50% of a the Metro Scope quilt from Sew Kind of Wonderful.

Pictures to follow next week after I rescue them from my phone, I just wanted to check in and let you know I was still alive. I just haven’t sewn at all this whole week because Anne decided to turn 6 and we have been super busy getting ready for that to happen. You will be happy to know I didn’t cry but I kinda want to!

Have a wonderful weekend, we are heading to Frozen on Ice as Anne’s birthday present.
