June Goals – A Lovely Year of Finishes
Wait! What? Does that say June?!? I’m so not ready for it to be June! I’m really not quite sure how this happened.
In fact, I may just pretend that it isn’t happening. LOL
It is time to set a June goal, now don’t laugh or anything, but the goal I am picking is kind of a hold over from May 2013 A Lovely Year of Finishes. Last May (like a whole year ago), my goal was to finish my Swoon top made out of Half Moon Modern – one of my all time favorite fabric lines. This June, I have decided it is time to make the backing for that quilt.
So there is the top. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this quilt and it is time to be able to use it rather than just stare at it in my UFO pile. Wish me luck!

May Finishes Party – A Lovely Year of Finishes
Can you believe the year is almost half over?!? One more month and we will be there. May is supposed to be the month of flowers, but here in Washington state we are still experiencing Showers mixed with hail on some days. Luckily that hasn’t stopped my garden from growing along nicely! This month I picked my Swoon Quilt top to finish – it took me 17 months to finish the top as I started the first block in January of 2012. I’m very happy to cross this off my list, and looking forward to figuring out how I want to quilt it.
Here is a picture laying down on my lawn. This quit top is HUGE! We tried getting a picture with my hubby holding it…but he isn’t quite 80″ tall, but the colors look SO much better in this pic.
See how the colors pop in this pic? Next time I will get him a ladder to stand on! LOL
Your turn! Time to show us all what you have been working on! Remember, you can link up here or with Shanna over Fiber of All Sorts, no need to link up twice. May – A Lovely Year of Finishes Mid-Month Check In
How on earth did it already become the middle of May. I think that time is moving faster and faster each month. On Mother’s Day my little Anne turned 3.5, I was not ready for that AT ALL! Thankfully my 3.5 year old still naps! So that has given me plenty of time to work on my Swoon Quilt! Here are my last 2 blocks:
The bottom one is my favorite of the 2 but then I’m partial to that lovely red print.
Now Shanna and I would love to see how you are doing this month! This is not a mandatory link up, just a nice way to see where you are at and a friendly reminder that you have only so many days left to finish.
Please grab a button from my sidebar and link up. Remember it is the same link up on Shanna’s blog so if you have linked up with her, you don’t need to link up with me too 🙂
And let’s not forget to thank our lovely sponsors who had so much fun to each month!

Swooning Triangles
This weekend was a mixed bag. It started out rough with a disappointing kidney appointment for Anne, but it improved greatly as the weekend went on. We spent a ton of time outdoors in the unseasonably HOT Washington weather. Seriously, we were in the mid-80s most of the weekend! We re-did our entire front yard and I planted more seedlings in our fledgling fruit and veggie garden. I’m really hoping something grows this year other than just weeds!
I did mange to find some time to work on my May Finish for A Lovely Year of Finishes (today is the last day to link up for May!). I got all my fabric cut for the last 2 Swoon blocks on Sunday, I also sewed all the flying geese for both blocks and the HSTs. Yesterday I worked on trimming those HSTs to size (during nap time of course) and I will hopefully start assembling the final blocks today!
Since I have no finished blocks to show you I thought I would show you something I have collected whilst making my Swoon blocks:
144 small Half Square Triangles – once trimmed they will measure to 2.5 inches. Now to figure out what to do with them…I’m thinking pillows to go with my gorgeous quilt, but I’m open to suggestions!
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!
